The Children Dignity Forum (CDF), in partnership with the Community Led Initiative for Women (CLIW), is excited to announce the initiation of a new project set to take place in Kinondoni District. This initiative aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to implement the National Agenda for Accelerating Actions and Investments for Youth Health and Welfare 2021/22 - 2024/25 (NAIA-AHW). Focused on four key interventions out of six, namely HIV prevention, teenage pregnancy prevention, combatting Sexual, Physical, and Emotional Violence, as well as enhancing nutrition and fostering skill development alongside economic opportunities for young individuals affected by HIV, this project aims to target priority areas for investment. These interventions are crucial for fostering a productive society and nation.
Moreover, this project underscores Tanzania's commitment to the United Nations Declaration on HIV and AIDS (2015), the Sustainable Development Goals, and the African Union Agenda 2063. By adhering to best practices, both nationally and internationally, Tanzania strives to achieve its goals effectively. Notably, Tanzania aims to reach the national goal of 95-95-95 (whereby 95% of individuals living with HIV are aware of their status, 95% have commenced antiretroviral treatment, and 95% have successfully reduced their viral load) by 2030.
The main objective of this project is to ensure that adolescent girls and young women, especially those in vulnerable environments such as those living with HIV/AIDS or working in high-risk environments for HIV transmission, gain understanding and skills to protect themselves against HIV infections. Through this project, we aim to promote HIV testing, access to quality and safe healthcare services, and correct usage of HIV prevention and treatment drugs. Beneficiaries of this project are adolescent girls and young women aged between 17-25 who are living with or at risk of HIV infection in Kinondoni District.
To achieve the goals of this project, CDF and CLIW will implement various activities including training for these youth on self-awareness, HIV prevention, counseling, testing, and correct usage of prevention and treatment drugs. These youth will then be equipped with skills to educate their peers in the community through various methods including debates, forums, and informational pamphlets.
Furthermore, through this project, healthcare providers will be trained and equipped with skills to provide better and friendlier services to adolescent girls and young women living with or at risk of HIV infection to reduce HIV transmission.
